Here the picturesque Kamptal. There is the mighty Grafenegg Castle. And in the middle of it all, the gardens terroir-typical wines from the Fischer family from carefully nurtured grapes.

The higher authorities mean well with this piece of earth. Where nature and the climatic conditions already harmonize so wonderfully, all that is needed is the fine intuition of the winemaker to transfer the terroir into the glass.

Riede

Stone, Engabrunn

All that remains of the primeval sea is gravel next to crystalline Gföhl gneiss. And above it, loess spreads out – the defining element of this gently sloping hillside location to the south.

Gaisberg-Stras

If you walk along the vines of the Gaisberg, you can see for miles towards the southeast. The very special microclimate and a fine layer of loess provide the best conditions for our Grüner Veltliner.

Gallows Hill

In the Middle Ages, executions actually took place on this hill. Today, however, the horror has long since given way to beauty. The idyllic south-facing slopes are based on loess and gravel – the ideal foundation for many a grape variety.

Grüner Veltliner

Gold with green reflections. Intense aroma of pineapple, white peach and rhubarb. Full-bodied with a delicate melt, excellent balance and delicate acidity. Enormous fruit pressure, with a long finish.

New vintage - new at Lidl

March 17, 2021 was one of the most exciting days of the wine year for us: The first bottling of our Grüner Veltliner took place. And the first puffs promise a very, very good vintage!

Lidl customers can already look forward to being among the very first tasters. Because from April 2021, the Grüner Veltliner from Domäne Grafenegg will already be available in Lidl Austria stores. We are delighted to have Lidl as a strong domestic trading partner with a great deal of wine expertise at our side.

The 2020 Grüner Veltliner from Domäne Grafenegg was awarded 90 points by the wine and gourmet magazine Falstaff and a silver medal at the 28th major international wine award Mundus Vini.

90 points from Falstaff

The Falstaff Tasting Jury is once again impressed by the Grüner Veltliner from Domäne Grafenegg. From the first impression to the aftertaste – and with a special distinction: the new vintage cracked the 90-point mark on the Falstaff rating scale. So we must have done a lot of things right in the garden and in the cellar, as the rating of the Austrian gourmet magazine is considered a reliable compass and “hard currency” in the wine world.

Ready to let the latest Falstaff tasting note melt in your mouth?

“Light golden yellow, silver reflections. Fresh yellow apple, delicate pineapple, a hint of meadow herbs, underlaid with fine blossom honey. Juicy, elegant texture, ripe pear fruit, some mango, pleasant acidity, lingers, already easy to drink and versatile, shows clear varietal character.”
